What's inside

Potassium alum is a naturally occurring mineral salt. It has been used for centuries as a personal-care ingredient. In cosmetic use, potassium alum lowers skin pH slightly, which makes the underarm environment less hospitable to the ordinary skin bacteria that break down sweat into the compounds we notice as odor.
What it is not. Potassium alum is not aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum zirconium. Those are the aluminum-based antiperspirant actives regulated by the FDA under 21 CFR Part 350, and they work by physically blocking sweat glands. NuCell is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant. It does not stop perspiration.
How to use
Apply to clean, dry skin. Best on damp underarms straight out of the shower, so a light film of the mineral solution stays behind as the skin dries. Reapply as needed.
Where. Underarms, feet, inside shoes, or as a light all-over body spray. It is unscented, so it layers under any perfume or cologne.
The two-to-four-week window. Skin that has been under aluminum-based antiperspirants for years often needs two to four weeks to settle into a new routine. Give it that window before deciding whether the switch is working for you.
Why we made it this way
Most deodorants and antiperspirants sold today are complicated formulas: aluminum antiperspirant actives, synthetic fragrance to cover chemistry, propylene glycol or alcohol to carry it, and preservatives to keep it shelf-stable. NuCell is the opposite approach. Two ingredients. The mineral salt does the work of controlling odor. The water carries it. Nothing added for scent, nothing added as a preservative. If the shortest possible ingredient list is what you are looking for in a personal-care product, this is the whole label.

About chirality and skin care
Chirality is the property of molecules that come in two mirror-image forms, usually labeled L and D (or S and R). Your body's receptors are chiral, which means they recognize one form of a molecule and not the other. Vitamin C is a good everyday example: L-ascorbic acid is the form the body uses; D-ascorbic acid is not.
The most famous case of chirality mattering in medicine was thalidomide. It was sold in the 1950s as a morning-sickness drug in a mixture of both enantiomers. One enantiomer produced the intended sedative effect, and the other caused the tragic birth defects that pulled the drug from the market. The lesson stuck with the pharmaceutical industry, and chiral synthesis is now a routine part of how drugs are developed.
The same principle applies to skin care. The receptors in your skin are chiral, so an ingredient that matches the right handedness will fit; the mirror-image form will not. NuCell® formulas use chirally-correct ingredients where available, even where that raises the cost of the formula, because a topical that fits the skin's chemistry is a topical that works.
