 rong>AD HYPER The laboratory diagnosis of adrenal cortical hyperfunction is most often seen with an increased serum cortisol and/or salivary cortisol that is increased in the a.m. and fails to reduce with subsequent salivary tests during the day and evening. All of the following clinical problems are associated with stress and inflammation, nexus to the hyperfunction. Clinically hyperfunction is very common with metabolic syndrome, sympathetic dominance (often severe enough to cause the addition of Sympathetic Balance, fragile and thin skin, excess girdle weight, fatigue and muscle weakness, diabetes, reduced sex drive, poor cognition, anxiety and immune insufficiency. Other problems that are common with adrenal hyperfunction are heart rate increases, excess blood in skeletal muscles caused by hepatic congestion, resulting in hypertension, and upper back, neck, and shoulder pain due to head forward position that is common with stress and adrenal hyperfunction.
