The alkaline one, with brewer's yeast for assimilation.

A very alkaline calcium supplement using natural-source calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide with brewer's yeast added for assimilation, per the Reams formula. Six capsules provide 1000 mg of elemental calcium. 100 or 250 capsules.

  • ✓1000 mg of elemental calcium per six capsules. The highest elemental calcium serving of our three Cal formulas.
  • ✓Two alkaline calcium forms. Natural-source calcium carbonate together with calcium hydroxide, which is what makes this the alkaline option.
  • ✓Brewer's yeast for assimilation. The Reams-specific addition, and the actual difference between this and a plain carbonate supplement.
  • ✓Bone, muscle, and nerve. Calcium supports bone strength and structure, normal muscle contraction, and nerve signaling.*
  • ✓Meant to be split. Six capsules is the serving, not the single dose. The body takes up about 500 mg of calcium at a time.

What's inside

Calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide. Two natural-source alkaline calcium forms, which is what makes this the most alkaline calcium on our shelf.

Brewer's yeast. Added for assimilation, and the real difference between Cal-II and a plain carbonate tablet.

1000 mg of elemental calcium per six capsules. Six is the label serving. Read the cautions on splitting it.

The Reams formula. Both the form choice and the yeast come from his framework.

100 or 250 capsules per bottle.

How to use

Six capsules provide the 1000 mg serving. Take as directed on the label.

Split it across the day. The body takes up roughly 500 mg of calcium at a time, so six capsules at once is not the way to use them. Two or three at a couple of points in the day is.

With meals. Carbonate forms in particular do better with food, which supplies the stomach acid they need.

Space it from iron, zinc, and thyroid medication. A few hours is enough.

Why we made it this way

We carry three calcium products and they are not variations on one idea. Cal-II is the alkaline one, Cal-Lactate is more acid-reacting, and Cal-Gluconate is neutral. That is the real reason to have three, and it comes straight off the labels.

Cal-II uses natural-source calcium carbonate together with calcium hydroxide, which is what makes it strongly alkaline, plus brewer's yeast for assimilation. That yeast is the Reams-specific piece and it is what separates this from an ordinary carbonate supplement.

What we will not tell you is that this form absorbs better than the others. Head to head comparisons of calcium salts do not support ranking them that way, and since we sell all three we have no business claiming one beats the rest. Choose on pH and on how your own digestion handles it, not on an absorption race.

About this product

Cal-II is a holistic wellness product. It is a dietary supplement providing 1000 mg of elemental calcium per six capsules from natural-source calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide with brewer's yeast. Calcium supports bone strength and structure, normal muscle contraction, and nerve signaling.* It is not a medical treatment. Results vary, and it is intended to be used at your own discretion as part of a broader healthy-living routine. Consult your physician before use if you have a medical condition or are taking medication.

Who reaches for it

Adults following a Reams-style program where the alkaline calcium is specified.

People who want the higher elemental calcium serving of the three.

Anyone who has found plain carbonate hard to work with and wants the yeast-assisted version.

Cautions

Split the dose. The body absorbs calcium best in amounts of about 500 mg at a time. If your serving is larger than that, spread it across the day rather than taking it all at once.

Kidney stones or kidney disease. If you have a history of either, talk to your physician before starting any calcium supplement.

Separate it from other supplements and medication. Calcium can interfere with the absorption of iron, zinc, and some prescription medications, including thyroid medication and certain antibiotics. Leave a few hours between them.

Do not exceed the label. More calcium is not better, and total intake from food plus supplements is what counts.

Pregnancy and nursing. Consult your physician first.

For adults only. Consult your physician before use if you have kidney disease or a history of kidney stones. Keep out of reach of children.
